Paris has long been a magnet for edgy, arty types and it is the city that has stolen my heart.
People often question me why Paris stole my heart, and frankly this question can not be justified in just one sentence.
The Parisian lifestyle is certainly laid back and this is why I love it. Whilst strolling down streets you see people at cafes and restaurants with their friends and family even in the winter months. Just relaxing, spending time and eating with the people that matter most.
2. Bon Appétit
I must confess, I am a total foodie and well Paris is dream come true for us foodies. People usually tend to associate the city with snails and frog legs but theres so much more to it. There are restaurants on every corner, buzzing with people.
For macaron connoisseurs, Ladurée is a must. If you’re about you should try some of their fantastic pastries and of course their famous well known macarons.
La Maison de Verlaine
La Maison de Verlaine is a small intimate restaurant located in the heart of Paris. If you’re looking for delicious food at reasonable prices then this is the place to go.
The city has so much to offer. I love visiting all the tourist hotspots like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame but I also love just exploring the beautiful streets of Paris as there is always something intriguing. Even the street lamps are beautifully designed. When in Paris I would recommend visiting the Hotel Guimard. This small building is one of the cities many hidden gems. This is an art nouveau house, built on 122 Avenue Mozart. The house was designed by Hector Guimard and it highlights what a Parisian house should look like – iron balconies, period features and furnished with elegant furniture.
The Sacré-Cœur is a majestic church which is a definite must visit whilst in Paris. Although it is a trek away from the main city centre, it is definitely rewarding once arriving at the basilica. The church is gothic style and when climbing to the top of the steps you are able to see a picturesque view of the whole of Paris.
Did someone mention shopping? Shopping in Paris has been popular since the 19th century. What makes it so special today is how there is such a varied mix of stores, from big stores to typical parisian markets that specialise in everything from haute couture to high street fashion. So be sure to pack light because I’m sure you won’t be able to resist buying certain pieces whilst you’re in Paris.
Where to shop in Paris?
Champs Elysées is possibly the most famous shopping street in Paris and possibly in the whole of Europe. On this street you will find stores such as Christian Dior, Gucci, Valentino etc. Even if you don’t intend on buying anything I would still recommend visiting there, window shopping is a delight.
The Rue de Rivoli is another must. You will find much more affordable buys such as souvenirs and be able to shop in high street retailers such as Zara and Mango.
But its not just about the fashion, there is also beautiful flower market stalls that you can find on a lot of streets in Paris. These markets are filled with beautiful peonies and large bouquets of roses.
Yes Paris is always in my heart but of course you have to take some pictures to share and preserve the memories.
I left my heart in Paris. Have you ever left your heart in a beloved city? Share your posts with http://www.getyourguide.co.uk/
