I was recently invited to a blogger event at The Botanist in Chester. The event was hosted in the bar so that we could celebrate the launch of their new cocktail menu, which has been revamped with different fresh ingredients and new flavours. The new cocktails have much less sugar and more fresh fruit and garnishes. I can not recommend them enough!
When arriving at The Botanist we were greeted by Tamara and Luke who were our fabulous hosts for the night. We started the evening off with fresh homemade lemonade. For our next drink we could choose from 3 different cocktail watering cocktail cans – gin, vodka and rum based.
During the night we got to taste some more cocktails on the Botanists summer menu. We tried the blueberry and passionfruit martini, which was made with fresh blueberries and infused gin. This cocktail was extremely refreshing. We also tried the blackberry and mint julep which was so fruity and summery, this drink was also made with fresh blueberries however it was bitters, bourbon and liqueur based. The next cocktail (which was my personal favourite of the night) was pear and kiwi crush. The cocktail was made with kiwi, lime and apple juice mixed with gin and garnished with fresh kiwis. It was just delicious!
The lemon balm tini, is made with lemon balm which is a herb. This cocktail tasted like lemon sherbet sweets! The last drink of the masterclass was the chilli crush, this cocktail certainly gives you a kick. Made with fresh red chilli, thai basil, apple and lemon juice.
After the cocktail masterclass had ended we had the opportunity to mingle with other people at the event, get our nails or make-up done. Throughout the whole event there was also live music, which set a tone to the evening. I got my makeup done @Victoria Jane. Victoria used products from NYX, Anastasia Beverly Hills and MAC. Since I’m not the best with doing makeup, I let Victoria decide what she thought was a good makeup style to suit me and I’m glad she choose more of natural look which is usually my way to go. I would highly recommend Victoria Jane Makeup and you can check out more on her website here, www.victoriajanemakeup.com.
The evening was great and the cocktails were lovely. If you wish to find out more about The Botanist and where you can find your nearest restaurant, follow this link – http://thebotanist.uk.com
Many thanks to The Botanist and The Source Partnership who kindly organised and invited me to the event.
