So I’ve been fairly quiet on the blog over the past year and I have decided that needs to change.
A lot has changed, I now have a beautiful little niece, I have completed first year of uni and I have been living in London for the past few months, interning for a well know British designer.
Internship… Say What?
So this summer has gone a lot differently to how I planned. I had originally intended to work all summer so that I could fund my clothing obsession, but instead I found myself accepting an amazing opportunity here in London.
Everyone has always said to me that it is vital to intern if wanting to break into the fashion industry, and from the people that I have met so far I can honestly agree.
I didn’t really know what to expect at first, would it be like The Devil Wears Prada? Well, in parts of it is – and I think thats what makes the job so exciting, not every day is the same. Some days you’ll find yourself in the office updating spreadsheets, and the next you could be mastering how to use city mapper whilst delivering dresses in Central London.
So for those of you who don’t know, I am currently studying Business and Management. So you’re probably wondering, why a girl who is soooo interested in fashion is doing such a broad subject. Well, in reality the fashion industry is such a competitive world to break into and I wanted to be able to have options incase I struggle to get to where I want.
For anyone struggling to decide whether fashion is the career that they want to pursue, I’d honestly reccomend interning. It really confirmed my career path that I want to follow after University.
So just a little update on everything and will have a follow up blog post in the next few days.
Lots of love x
